The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is an annual festival that attracts over 100,000 people. Designed by Lanny Sommese for 40+ years, the poster has represented the festival and become a collectors item for the festivals attendees. Represented on merchandise and sold at many of the stands throughout the festival, the poster has become the visual representation of the festival itself.

For the past five years, I have designed the festival poster. I have also designed the merch and other marketing materials that goes along with the festival.
SPOTLIGHT POSTER
2023
The 2023 festival went the typographic route with attention to textures, colors, and patterns.
2022
SPOTLIGHT POSTER
The 2022 festival was the first "in-person" festival since 2019 and therefore warranted an explosion of activity. I created this poster using a pen sketch and paint at first, then brought it onto the computer to create block-color similar to psychedelic 70s concert posters. Familiar elements made a reappearance, including Old Main and the Jester.
2020
SPOTLIGHT POSTER
The 2020 festival was a virtual festival due to the pandemic. With the tagline "happening wherever you are" the idea of this poster was to allow the viewer to fill in the blanks and imagine their own experience wherever they might be in the world. In a unique year filled with hardship and turmoil, I wanted the poster to visually feel hopeful. This poster is also unique as a concept, as it is the only one in the festival history to not feature a "main character". Pen sketches with water color.
2018
SPOTLIGHT POSTER
The 2018 was the first festival poster I worked on and featured the first ever girl jester. The white space was used as a blank canvas for children to color in, allowing them to customize their own experience.
